This program that empower young mothers and youth through vocational training, financially and socially
to become able to provide for herself and her child. The program is based on agriculture and has focus
in Dairy, Aquaculture, and Sericulture, poultry, Bee keeping, horticulture, women’s rights, business
strategy, communication and nutrition. These programs often offer business support, mentorship, and
access to networks and resources to help participants achieve sustainable livelihoods and contribute
to their communities.
GOALS & IMPACT
Economic growth: By equipping Duol farmer women and youth with marketable skills, these programs aim
to improve their livelihood prospects and enable them to start businesses e.g. In poultry value chain
selling eggs through one of the members Ms. Rosebellah Oluoch at Awasi market and the environs like
Chemelil Market.
Inclusive future: The ultimate goal is to create a future where women and youth are not just included
but are leaders in shaping a more prosperous and equitable society

- Opportunities for Youth Engagement in Agrifood Systems:
Limited financial resources hinder youth participation in agriculture; however, DUOL FARMERS CBO targeted loans, grants, and innovative financing models,
along with financial literacy programmes, has been key to enable young entrepreneurs to invest and grow their agribusiness ventures like fish business as being done by a youth member Ms. Judy Ochieng and egg business being done by Ms. RosebellaOluoch.
Moreover, equipping youth with modern agricultural skills through training programmes, collaborations, and hands-on learning opportunities enhances their productivity, competitiveness, and ability to adopt innovative agricultural practices.
